Why Emir Sanusi stripped Ado Bayero’s son of title

The action taken by the emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, in stripping the late emir’s son of his title may not be political or personality motivated. Mr Lamido Bayero was to be the Ciroman of Kano and District Head of Gwale, but since he lost in the contest to become the emir he has shun the position and headed for Abuja. He was the managing director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) during former president Goodluck Jonathan, but removed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reports also revealed the emir Sanusi has written him through the palace on several occasions to come over and oversee the district but has refused to honour the call and for this reason he has been stripped of the title, but for the sake of peace in the palace, the title has been passed to his younger brother, Nasiru Bayero, to replace him as the new Ciroman Kano.

Palace spokesperson said, “When a letter was written to him again, he neither responded nor appeared in person to explain his reasons.

“His Highness first reasoned that the local government of Gwale was too important to be left vacant, and so he elevated the son of Emir Inuwa to be the district head.

“And now the title of Ciroma is also stripped,” a top palace source said.
